I gotta tell ya, Spring started a little rough for me. When I got up this morning I discovered the hot water heater croaked in the night, so I had to run next door to Charlie and Sheila's to get ready for work. Then I twisted my ankle hurrying to the car. It's really swollen, but I am determined to wear heels for Easter. Then Sheila swerved to avoid a squirrel, and I spilled coffee all down the front of my white blouse. (Missed the upholstery though.)
Now that we've more-or-less skidded through Palm Sunday, we're running head-long towards Easter. I don't know how your week is going, but I'm scratching things off my "to do" list like crazy. Things I'm never gonna get to, like "find a new pair of shoes to go with that skirt you bought in Denver." Ain't gonna happen. Not this week. My pink pumps will have to do.
I thought you'd like to know how our Palm Sunday Service turned out. For a fleeting moment Friday, I flirted with the notion of driving to Denver to get palm branches for everyone. But then it started to snow and Wayne nixed that idea. So we improvised. Alexis Martin, our pianist, played some special music; she's incredible. And Randy Boggs hauled one of his pack mules into town and tied it up in front of the building to remind everyone that Jesus did not ride into Jerusalem in a stretch limo accompanied by his posse. I think everyone got the point.
My first name is Samantha, but I hate it. No one ever calls me Samantha; I've been Sammy since I was born.
I can't believe we had so many visitors on our blog's opening day. And we got comments! Technically, Sheila got the very first comment on one of her posts, so I'm buying lunch. That's the deal.
Sammy here. Welcome to my our blog. I crossed out the "my" because this is a joint project. I'm blogging with my sister, Sheila. Sheila and I do just about everything together, which is fine with me. I'm proud to say my big sis is also my best friend.
Our blog originates from the heart of tiny Paddlebrook, Colorado. Never heard of it? That's okay; no one has, but I think that will be changing soon. My sister and I are second generation broadcasters; we inherited KDPO from our dad. It's known around town as The Depot, partly because of the call letters, and partly because we broadcast from Paddlebrook's old railroad station. It's a landmark in town. (That should tell you how small Paddlebrook actually is!)
We're gonna talk about everything on this blog - our husbands, our town, our church - you know, life. I am, by nature, chattier than Sheila so I expect I'll be the one responsible for generating our blog topics. I can do that. Like the old postcard? I thought you would. I collect old postcards, among other things. Are there any other collectors out there? If so, leave me a comment. Ooh, comments - I can't wait to get my first comment!
Yesterday, Sheila asked me if I had any reservations about starting this blog. I couldn't think of a single one. To be honest with you, I'm excited about making new friends from all over the globe. So, don't be shy. If you're reading this, say "hi".
Shine on -
