Custom Halo Figures - Or Mini Me's

It’s been a while since I wrote a post on my custom action figures, so I have a few to catch up on.  Though most of my custom figures are 1/6 scale or around the 12” size, these two figure are closer to 1/8 – 1/9 scale or about 8” tall.

My nephew Mike (on my wife, DK’s side) is a BIG Halo fan - the X-box game, not the kind you wear above your head, though he is a great kid and a young Christian. Anyway, he plays on a team with his church buddies and he and I play every time we get a chance. He also loves all my custom figures.

I got the idea to get him a custom Master Chief for Christmas, one with a likeness of his own head.  It did not take long to find out a 12” figure was out of the question.  So I contacted my source in Hong Kong to see what the most feasible way to do this would be.

They asked for a couple of head shots and a figure to put it on. That’s all they’d need.  After I got everything together to send off, I thought, Why should he have all the fun? So I got the stuff together and had a figure made of me, too.

Mike loved his custom Master Chief.  Mine is pretty cool, too.  Before he open the gift, I told  him it took me a long time to find this but it was the Halo Master Chief without his helmet - maybe the only one made - and I was sure surprised to see who he looked like.  SO WAS MIKE!!!

So here are both Mike and I, as our very own Master Chief from Halo.

P.S. Mike’s other Christmas gift from DK and I was a new Trek Mountain Bike.

I was inspired to make this Action figure set after watching a special on Animal Planet about the dogs and their handlers that came from all over the world to help look for survivors  in the rubble that was once the Twin Towers World Trade Center after 9-11.

This week's Friday Custom Action Figure is posting a day late.  Lots to do this week.  Anyway, I made this figure from a 12" Star Trek Picard.  Hope you like it!

Friday's Figure: Batgirl

Last week, I featured some of my favorite custom action figures in my Thursday Thirteen list.  (Scroll down a few posts to see them.)  I got such a huge response from movie & TV buffs and fellow collectors, that I decided to add a new weekly post to this blog - Custom Action Figure Of The Week.  I'll be featuring figures from my personal collection, past and present.  And you thought all I did was write books about work! 

My first featured figure is my rendition of Batgirl, seen here with her infamous Batbike.  This is a complete 12" 1/6 scale custom set, and is one of a kind.  I took ideas from several sources - comics, movies, and television - and combined them for this figure.

TT#19: Cool Custom Action Figures

A while back I did a TT list called "Thirteen Things I Like To Do To Chill."  Number 4 on that list was: Building custom action figures.  I collect and customize 1/6 scale or 12" action figures.
