Welcome!

Mitch_2901_2 My name is Mitch Raymer. I am an author, small publisher and avid bicycle enthusiast. Two of my biggest interests are:

  • Helping people find work they love.

Getting healthy through bicycling.

This is what my blog is about (and a few other things along the way.) Take a look around. If you have any questions, contact me. My newest post is below.

Christ-Centered Solutions to Everyday Problems

Welcome to the Official Finding Your Pathblog.

If you're a regular reader, scroll down to read my most recent posts.

If this is your first visit, let me tell you what we're all about. The main purpose of this blog is simple: to help people find out who they are in Christ, so that they can work in an occupation they love.

My name is Mitch Raymer and I'm the author of Your Path To A Job, the first book in the Finding Your Pathseries.  This blog has something to offer everyone, whether you are:

  • an Individual looking for job hunting help
  • a Church Pastor, Small Group or Ministry Leader
  • a Faith-based Community Outreach Leader
  • a Home Educator
  • a Christian School Educator
  • a Recovery/Re-entry Program Leader

Browse the Catagory list at right, and click on the topics that interest you.  I suggest you begin with "About Mitch" and "About the Book".  If you have questions, feel free to contact us.  The members of my team are available by phone or e-mail.

In addition to information about the book, you'll also find weekly job tips, favorite work quotations, and posts for the one weekly meme I participate in - the infamous Thursday Thirteen.  Some of my weekly T13 posts are just for fun, but many are work-related so skim that catagory, too.

While we're on the subject of fun, you'll also notice catagories about my hobbies: custom 1/6th scale action figures, biking, photography and kyacking. Hey, everyone's got hobbies!  Thanks for dropping by and I hope you'll make The FYPBlog a regular stop.

Your brother in the Word,

Mitch

Mitch Raymer

Mitch_08Hi, I'm Mitch Raymer, author of Your Path To A Job.  I'd like to thank you for stopping by my blog.  This is my first published book, but I'm not a stranger to this topic.  Let me tell you a little about myself.

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and was raised in southern Illinois.  Right after high school, I went to work in the nearby coal mines and spent 6 years there. Then I moved to Oklahoma, went to college and worked in the grocery business.

After college I moved to Florida and went to work in restaurant management.  I managed a seafood restaurant right off Cypress Gardens, and a themed restaurant in the Panhandle.  I stayed in Florida several years, moved to the Missouri Ozarks to be closer to my family.  I met Debra there.  I also found God, and a terrific church, Fellowship at Cross Creek. There, I became an elder and an ordained pastor.  Debra and I were married in 1989, and still live in the same popular little tourist town where we met.

For the past 14 years, I've worked in Administration and Human Resources for a chain of Midwest retail stores.  In that time, I've reviewed thousands of job applications and interviewed nearly as many people.  I quickly discovered that many of the people I encountered couldn't fill out a simple application or know how to prepare for a job interview.

Several years ago, I began teaching a job preparation class at a local halfway house. I was asked to adapt this course for high school students and adults who wanted to brush up on their job-hunting skills. This book is the result of that course.

I hope my diverse work experience and administrative knowledge are helpful to you as you begin your quest for a job in today's exciting and competitive market.  If you'd like to contact me, I can be reached at FindingYourPath@aol.com.

Now that you've met me, I'd like to introduce you to the rest of the team.
