Last week I did my 13 all-time favorite TV shows (old and new). This week it's my favorite albums - yes, I said albums because most of these WERE albums when they came out. There are a few new entries on this list, but most of them are old... and some of them are REALLY old. To make this list, it had to be music I still like today. Thanks again to Samulli for the cool header!
My 13 All-time Favorite Albums
1. Bob Seger and the SIlver Bullet Band - Live Bullet. This was one of my favorites as a teen and young adult and I still love it today. Maybe the best LIVE album ever made.
2. Portrait: The Music of Dan Fogelberg. If I could only have only one album or album set, this would be it. Dan is the man!
3. The Very Best of Jethro Tull. Who said the flute is not a heavy metal instrument? Very cool and Celtic before Celtic was popular.
4. Tejas ZZ-Top. One of their oldest... It was a toss up between this and Fandango. Both are very hot with mostly south of the border stories.
5. The Harry Potter Collection - Compositions by John Williams. Some of the most relaxing and fun music to listen to. It helps a lot to be a Harry Potter fan.
6. Chris Isaak - Forever Blue. Can this guy hit and hold a note or what! He reminds me of the singer of my last album (#13) And "Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing" may be my all time favorite song... or maybe it's "Don't You Forget About Me" from the Breakfast Club.
7. Harry Connick Jr. - Blue Light. My all-time favorite Jazz & Blues dude. I had a hard time picking my favorite album of his... so this is it, or maybe not :)
8. Halo 2 Original Video Game Soundtrack. I love the games and this soundtrack KICKS!!!! If you haven't heard it, check it out. There are 3 out there; get Halo 2 Original, not Halo or Halo 2 Volumn Two. If you're an old head banger you will not be disappointed.
9. The Best of The Guess Who. If there is some obscure hit you liked from the late 60's or early 70's, this Canadian rock group probably did it. Remember, The Guess Who... not The Who.
10. Boston. Their first album. NUFF SAID!!!!
11. Desperado Soundtrack. Antonio... way too cool! Movie was fun. The music... oh man, what a blast.
12. Gunfighter Ballads by Marty Robbins. As a kid, I was mesmerized by his voice and his cowboy ballads lead to many a cap-gun shootout.
13. Jimmy Dean - Big Bad John. John was a childhood hero, plus I worked in the mines for six years right out of high school.

Well, I like #7. I can't really comment on the rest. :-)

I had those albums by the Guess Who and Boston in vinyl...and I have a LOT of Tull (though I've abandoned my LPs, I'm sorry to say).
Tull are one of my top three bands.
I don't know a lot of the others, though I've heard some of the names.

I hope this isn't a double post; it wouldn't load properly. I was saying:
I had vinyl versions of Boston and The Guess Who when they came out. I was always very picky about my bands and narrow-minded about others, so there are a lot I don't know.
But I own a lot--not quite all---of Jethro Tull's stuff. They're in my top three all-time bands. "Stand Up" and "Songs from the Wood" are tied as my favorite albums.

This is such a cool list. I don't actually know any of these albums, because I rarely buy CDs (I usually end up liking only a few songs on them anyway, so I figure I might just as well get only the ones I like). But I know of course all the artists and some of them are among my favorites as well. :)
PS: Good choice of header. I think this is my favorite out of the whole bunch.
