A few months back, my featured tip was about dealing with anger after losing a job. Today I'm taking a slightly different path.
You've just lost your job. It's not fair, even though - in some small part - it may have been your fault. You know something could have been worked out and resolved, but it wasn't. You might have been employed at this place for 15 years or 15 months, the time doesn't really matter. What DOES matter is that you have a family to care for and you're not sure what to do next.
On top of that, depression has set in... and it's not something a good night's sleep will cure. This depression is crippling - you've lost hope, lost your motivation, and you can see no way out. You've hit rock bottom.
Now is the time to turn to God (if you haven't already done this) and to your friends. You might consider seeking professional counseling to help get you over this hurdle.
Bottom line: before you can move on to looking for a job, you must get help and work through this depression. Even if you happen to luck into a job before you get help, odds are you'll lose it in short order because of your attitude and demeanor. If that happens, it will only feed the depression and make it worse.
