Red Friday - February 20

 

This is Ryky, a three-year-old Belgian Malanois, who is partnered with U.S. Army Sgt. James Harrington. In this photo, they are preparing to leave Forward Operating Base Falcon, Iraq, on cache and search operations and route clearance in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad. Harrington is assigned to the 947th Military Police Detachment, part of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard.”

Do You Spin?

 

Yes, I'm still here, working away on HealthCare PSI. The website is nearly ready to launch (fingers crossed.) My friends and bloggy co-horts, Patty and Caron, have their own new project in the works. I just found out about it this morning. Freehaven Farm Fiber Day 2009 promises to be a blast for anyone interested in fibre arts. Heck, I'd go just to pet the animals, if I didn't live 10 states away.

Patty and Caron just produced this video promoting the event. I've watched it 3 times; makes me feel like I'm almost there. If you live in or around South Carolina, or want to learn about fiber arts from a master, I encourage you to attend!

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Angelina Mureno plays with a young Iraqi girl from the school for special needs children in Rumaythuh, Iraq. The students were visiting Combat Operations Base Adder to have the girl's hearing tested. Mureno is assigned to the 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

Congratulations to Stump, the 10 year old Sussex Spaniel who came out of retirement just one week ago and won top honors at Westminster last night. Good boy!

Wake Up!

 

I'm multi-tasking tonight - working on the HealthCare PSI website while I watch Westminster on tv. Just had to ask this question: You know that stimulus package that passed today? Did you know that buried deep inside this legislative behemoth is a provision that will not only empower the government to collect the medical records of every person in the country  - but also gives them the authority to deny you medical care based on your age, condition and cost effectiveness? Truth. Now we know how they plan to trim the Social Security roles. Where's the AARP on this? What's next? A mandatory termination age? This whole thing is far too Soylent Green for me. Call your representative!

Okay, end of rant. Back to the dog show.
