Red Friday - July 11
I learned about a great project last week that meets a very practical need. GreenCare for Troops, sponsored by Project Evergreen, provides free lawn and landscape care to military families who have a major breadwinner serving overseas. The volunteers mow the families' lawns, prune their shrubs, trim trees and, in some cases, completely overhaul overgrown yards. So far the program has helped 4,800 families nationwide, thanks to the generosity of 1,300 professional and community volunteers. It's a wonderful project and I'm glad to pass the word on this very worthwhile endeavor.
There are hundreds of ways you can show your support for our active duty men and women; GreenCare for Troops is a very good one! Click on the link above to see if this service is available in your area. They can never have too many volunteers.

What a terrific idea!
